Current Programs

Indepence for Women Veterans is working to develop a multi-pronged approach to help homeless and transitioning women veterans. At this time and with our limited organizational funding, our efforts have been focused toward cost efficient, yet effective programs.

  • CAREPac Program – The fastest growing demographic of Afghanistan and Iraq homeless veteran in the United States, is women veterans with children. The military fosters cohesion and teamwork and many veterans feel they lose that when they leave the military. We hope to partner with other organizations to create a housing program that brings all of the necessary elements of success together for women veterans in a safe and family friendly environment. Veterans don’t want a hand out, they want a hand up.

  • IWVMentoring Program - Workforce research reinforces the fundamental value of mentoring and the measurable impact of one-on-one coaching.  The IWVMentor model is designed to engage a cross section of veteran and civilian mentors who provide insights, advice and encouragement to steer women veterans and military/veteran spouses on individualized courses of action in the civilian workplace.  Program participants enter the IWVMentor Program as members seeking access to tools, resources or one-to-one confidential guidance, with the flexibility to change their status as needed/desired.

Future Programs

As with many new non-profits, the needs far exceed funds and resources currently available to implement programs.  We hope that defining what we plan/hope to do in the future, that people will get a sense of what direction IWVA is headed.  Our goal, is to improve the lives of women veterans... this means building thier self confidence and self esteem so that they are able to handle the the daily roadblocks that could potentially block their success.  If you’re interested in assisting or sponsoring one of these programs, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. • Education Program – IWVA’s goal is to see that all women veterans have the tools and resources they need to achieve their dreams. Many women veterans are single parents and some live on incomes that don’t allow them to pay for childcare costs even while attending school full time with the new Post 9/11 GI Bill. Additionally, not all veterans qualify for the new GI Bill. This program will ensure that the participants who are accepted, receive supplemental funding to pursue their educational goals.

  • Transitional Housing Program - The fastest growing demographic of homeless veteran in the United States, is women veterans and often thier children.
